2012-2013. "It was supposed to be a rebuilding year." - Mr. Huang
After graduating Longfellow's greatest 8th grade class ever, Mr. Huang's task was to rebuild. To compensate for the loss of talent, Mr. Huang held a week-long summer camp for rising 7th and 8th graders and instituted a second weekly practice on Tuesdays, a practice devoted to lecturing on history. Expectations were still not high, but the previous year's B and C-team 7th graders rose to the occasion and showed they were a top national contender.
Ruyan Zhang captained Longfellow to another KMO championship in KMO's last installment. Following in the footsteps of Emma Fan, Bobbie Sheng and Nadege Aoki, Molly O'Hare became a top-notch religion/myth expert. Andrew Farnsworth made great strides in history and literature. Newcomer Alia Wilson impresssed by making A-team and the finals of the national history bee.
7th graders who impressed were Liam Donovan, Adi Sarkar, Alex Howe and Carson Flickinger.
